So this is my first blog post....weird.
It's also weird to think just a few months ago i was boring the proverbial mamories off people by talking to them
(and at them) about film and what "it all means" etc. God even it makes me sick!.
Anyway, now i'm actually studying this subject with the view to eventually trying to channel my
nerdy-ness into a some sort of vocation!, of course this is where all you proud world weary people insert your own comments about " lack of jobs, cut throat business, you're talking out of your "mighty pit of sarlac" etc."
The truth is i don't really care, i'm spunging off of the well worn government for the next three years and i intend to learn and come up with some noteworthy gumpf along the way!...so There!
During this past term i have learnt several things:
1. I'm not the oldest in my group
2. Someone else in my group also wants to be Batman
3. It's actaully quite astounding how much theory on semiotics you can apply to modern mainstream
filmaking!
4.I don't have to put my hand up if i want to use the toilet, i'm in big boy school now, so it's all gravy
5.I don't have to call my tutor "miss", which is even more inappropriate when my one of my tutors is named "Dan"
6. I still don't know how to operate a camera without the fear of it blowing up in my face!
7. "space" means many different things, in different time periods, in different contexts.
8.You get to consider the world around you and how your own senses define that world.
9. the stuff you think about film, it's theories about what the filmmakers was trying to say, the subtexts and their relevance to the culture of the time it was made in and if and how that applies today.
10. It's okay not to know one "single disc edition" about Fellini, in other words it's okay to like "Raiders"
...Just not that "crystal skull" thing, everyone knows that was gash!
Anyway, over the next few thousand years i'll be taking you through my
experiences, theories, ideas, musings and general mental graffti, trying to give anyone who's interested a look
at my relationship with film. For now this is it, my brain hruts and so does my grammar.
So goodnight and i look forward to you laughjing at me inpublic over the fact that i have a "blog!"
